Fr. Gerard Ryan CCS

Fr. Gerard Ryan CCS is a religious and priest of the Confraternity of Christ the Priest, a Public Association of Christ's Faithful founded in Australia in 1954. The missionary outreach of this society is primarily via the Intensive Apostolate, and this is among those who have no "practical" religion or who have fallen away from the exercise of the Christian faith. Their mission is pastoral towards Catholics, ecumenical to all faiths and missionary to those who as yet do not know the love of God. Growing up in Melbourne, Fr. Gerard worked for nearly a decade in the touring coach industry before being called to serve in the Lord's vineyard.

He made final profession of the evangelical counsels in 1985 in the Confraternity of Christ the Priest and was ordained to the priesthood in 1986. After ordination, Fr Gerard worked as Director of Aspirant Formation at the Confraternity's House of Formation in the Diocese of Ballarat. He later became Rector. He has served as Superior General of the Confraternity of Christ the Priest and as a parish priest for two terms at the West Wagga Wagga Parish. Fr Gerard completed doctoral studies in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas, Rome.

His pastoral experience includes parish team ministry, school, hospital, and police chaplaincy. He has conducted retreats and seminars in Italy, Spain, USA and Australia for religious communities and the laity. He regularly conducts parish retreats. Fr Gerard is a regular contributor to Christ the Priest Media, available on Smart TV, Roku, and the internet website: View here. Weekly he gives catechetical and spiritual programs on Christ the Priest Media. His series The Compendium our Companion is also readily available on YouTube.

Firmly believing in the richness and power of the charisms of the Holy Spirit as displayed in the New Testament, Father Gerard encourages everyone to experience the healing presence of God in their life. Presently, Fr Gerard is an assistant priest of the West Wagga Parish in the Diocese of Wagga Wagga and ministers with his community at four Mass centres.
